HILALCO wins nuclear energy infrastructure contract in UAE

UAE-based Hilal Bil Badi and Partners Contracting Company (HILALCO) has won a US$60mn contract for constructing and developing infrastructure for UAE?s nuclear energy programme

According to the contract, HILALCO has been appointed to implement circulating water intake structures (CWIS), which will form part of the Circulating Water System on the four nuclear energy plants located at Barakah in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, the selected site of the UAE peaceful nuclear energy programme.

A CPI Financial report stated that the reinforced concrete structures, which will take an estimated 45 months to develop, will provide cooling water for the turbine condensers and turbine generator building cooling water heat exchangers.

CWIS are designed to protect the marine environment and meet the environmental requirements outlined by Abu Dhabi?s environmental regulator, the Environment Agency ? Abu Dhabi (EAD).

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) executive director of procurement and supply chain Yaqoob Al Shehhi said, ?We would like to congratulate HILALCO on securing this important contract and we now look forward to working with them.
