Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) has initiated a pilot project of 2500 intelligent water meters with automated meter reading (AMR) system from Kamstrup, a provider of intelligent metering solutions

This pilot project will enable Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) to understand the water loss in their distribution network with the latest AMR technology and help achieve efficiency in their operations.

?Our remote reading solution provides SEWA with meter data on the go and automatically gain access to both consumption data and any alarms or info codes regarding leakages and other irregularities in the distribution network,? said Danish Fareed, general manager of Kamstrup, UAE.

It is said that the high accuracy of the meter ensures precise billing of the consumption and AMR solutions help to monitor data as and when required, thereby reducing water waste.

?You simply drive around your supply area with an Android smartphone or tablet and a small converter unit. The solution is packaged according to their needs with a meter reading software which is an accompanying meter data management program that keeps track of and stores your meter data for further use,? Danish added.

The meters were installed in June and automatic meter reading has started, representatives from SEWA have been on inspection at the Danish headquarters in Stilling to discuss future needs and expansion plans based on the performance of the solution.
