SEC and GE sign MoU to manage power plants in Kingdom

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and GE have signed an MoU to establish a joint venture (JV) company that will extend operations and maintenance to support SEC?s power plants in the Kingdom

According to GE officials, the company will train SEC staff in addition to extending its technologies to undertake the operations and maintenance at the various power plants belonging to SEC in Saudi Arabia.

The JV is expected to be operational later this year, and power plants will be identified soon, added GE officials. The company plans to enhance the skill set of Saudi nationals, and develop the local talent pool.

GE?s advanced turbines support power generation in more than 40 sites of SEC across the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia accounts for the largest GE workforce in the Middle East with more than 1,600 employees in the healthcare, transportation, power, oil and gas, water and aviation businesses.
