Iran has unveiled a long-term reserve solar energy reactor, made by an Iranian, in the Science and Technology Park of Qazvin, with an aim to reserve and generate solar energy for domestic use

According to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the reactor works through physical and chemical reactions to reserve long-term solar steam. The solar energy reactor is expected to add value to the country?s goal to boosting domestic power generation capacity.

With the increase in domestic energy consumption and limitation of fossil fuels and oil resources, Iran continues to rely on new and renewable energy sector which accounts for around 14.6 per cent of the country?s total electricity generation capacity.

The existence of plenty of sun rays in summer help in physical and chemical reactions and reserve around 300-degree steam in the reactor to use them during winter time.

Yusuf Gorgy, head of Qazvin Science and Technology Park, told the source that the reactor may reserve solar energy for eight months to be used in the field of thermal or generating electricity.

Speaking about the future of solar energy in electricity generation, Gorgy mentioned that 85 trillion kW of solar energy reaches earth, while the total consumption of the world stands at 800,000MW.

The system can be used for residential purposes, business area, working places as well as green houses by setting temperature and humidity.

The solar energy reactor was constructed by Roqiyeh Jalali, a member of Iranian Inventors Society. Jalali has registered six inventions prior to this.
