Borusan EnBW Enerji, a joint venture between German firm EnBW and Turkish company Borusan, is set to add 210MW of output from wind energy in Turkey with the signing of turbine supply contracts
The JV company signed turbine supply contracts with GE and Vestas for the construction of the Saros onshore wind farm and the expansion of the Kiyik?y onshore wind farm. After completion of both projects by the end of 2020, the installed capacity of onshore wind power of Borusan EnBW Enerji will increase to 646MW.
The Saros onshore wind farm with an output of 138 MW and an annual production of 530 GW hours is one of the biggest wind farm projects in Turkey. The turbine supply contract with GE, which was concluded at the beginning of July, comprises 27 Cypress 5.X MW class turbines with a rotor diameter of 158 meters.
The Kiyik?y wind farm with an output of 28MW has been in operation since 2015. The project to expand the wind farm by 72MW means that it will generate a total output of 100MW with annual production of 280GW hours in future.
EnBW and Borusan have generation plants with a total output of around 495MW in operation in Turkey, which mainly comprise onshore wind turbines (436MW), a hydropower plant (50MW) and two solar parks (8.8MW).
