SPTC opens first power transformer factory in Saudi Arabia

SPTC, a joint venture between CG and STC (Saudi Transformer Company), has inaugurated its flagship power transformer factory in Dammam Industrial City, Saudi Arabia

SPTC said the joint venture is dedicated to the design, engineering and manufacture of power transformers and mobile sub-stations, offering full service capabilities for products installed in Saudi Arabia. The company added that the factory has a capacity of 5,000 MVA.

Mohammed Alsamari, CEO of SPTC, said, "The factory has been built in a record time of 12 months. We have built a state-of-the-art facility and employed the finest technicians and engineers in the field along with the best available technology."

The joint venture, which has received a five-year framework contract for sub-station services, has already received orders for one mobile sub-station and six 25 MVA power transformers from the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

Laurent Demortier, CEO and managing director of CG, said, ?We do believe that the localisation of our activity in Saudi will bring a high level of responsiveness and understanding of the specific needs of our Saudi Arabia customers and will pave the way for a strong long-term relationship.?
