Siemens has signed a US$38mn deal with Qatar Steel for the construction of a new high-voltage sub-station to help boost the efficiency of the power supply to Mesaieed Industrial City
The power firm will build a 220/66/33 kV sub-station to replace the existing facility over a 14-month period.
Wolfgang Braun, head of power transmission at Siemens Middle East, said, ?We are delighted to have been awarded this turnkey sub-station project with Qatar Steel and look forward to further co-operation with the company.?
The project is the first to be awarded to Siemens Power Transmission by Qatar Steel.
Siemens will supply Qatar Steel with 220/66/33 kV transformers and cables, together with equipment including 66 kV gas-insulated switchgear, 33 kV switchgear and the sub-station control and monitoring system.
