Electronics and electrical engineering company Siemens has been awarded a turnkey contract from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) to supply three high-voltage substations to the emirate
The substations will be expected to boost reliability and efficiency of power supply in Sharjah, one of the seven emirates that comprise the UAE, to meet its growing demand for electricity.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens will be responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and handing over of three 132kV, 33kV and 11kV substations to the areas of Abu Shagara, Al Khan and Muweleah in Sharjah.
This scope of supply will include substations, transformers and capacitor banks. The project will be scheduled for completion in 16 months.
