Jordan awarded a US$800mn power plant project to an international consortium led by Korea Electric Power Co (KEPCO).
600 MW plant
The consortium which also involves Japan's Mitsubishi and Finland's diesel-engine maker Wartsila, will build a 600 MW plant for Jordan's National Electric Power, KEPCO said in a statement.
Completion by 2014
The consortium aims to complete construction by 2014 and operate the plant for 25 years after completion. KEPCO will be investing about US$120mn in the project.
60 per cent stake
The company said it would hold a 60 per cent stake in the project, with Mitsubishi having 35 per cent and Wartsila five per cent.
