FEWA to build 4 new power plants

The Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) has started construction work on two power plants in Umm Al Qaiwain, while the tender process is underway for two more plants in the emirate.

The new power plants are part of a wider programme to increase investments in the utilities sector in the emirate to US$ $1.55 billion in order to meet rising energy demand.

Tenders for other power projects were being prepared including the upgrading of three substations and the expansion of a main power generation plant, Mohammed Khalil Shamis, Director of Communications at FEWA, was quoted as saying by Al Ittihad.

Yousif Jassem Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of Umm Al Qaiwain Planning Department said that FEWA was granted a 97,000 sqf plot to build on a new power plant.
