Alstom has signed two contracts worth a total of US$96mn with Metka SA to deliver power generation equipment to Samra Electric Powers projects in Jordan
The first contract involves the delivery of one of Alstom?s GT13E2 gas turbines, together with associated spares, for a new simple cycle power plant being built in the Zarqa region.
Alstom said it will design, deliver and supervise the installation of a GT13E2 turbine, generator and auxiliaries for the new unit, where commercial operations are scheduled to begin in 2013.
The second deal covers the supply of Alstom steam-tail add-on technology to convert the existing 285MW Samra III simple cycle gas-fired plant to a combined cycle plant. The technology will increase the power generation capacity of the unit by an additional 143MW and will be operational by 2015.
Mark Coxon, senior vice president of Alstom's Gas Business said, ?The Middle East is an important gas-fired power generation market for Alstom and we are happy to be partnering in the effort to expand Jordan?s generation capacity.?
