The Riyadh provincial council announced that it has approved of 25 projects including drainage canals, networks and floodwater passage worth US$1.6bn
The projects also include construction of administrative centres in Majma, expropriation of properties for Prince Turki Road I, the disposal and transportation of garbage thrown in public places, renovation of Al-Rabwa fruit and vegetable market. Pedestrian paths and pavements in the city will also be developed, alongwith implementing Phase 2 of camel market project to ease traffic congestion in residential districts.
Construction tasks like asphalting, lighting, and pavement work in areas under the mayoralty and branch municipalities have already been undertaken. Face-lifting and beautification of entrances of the mayoralty and municipalities will also be done, the body said.
Apart from developing city infrastructure, money has also been allocated for finishing ongoing projects like Phase-1 of Riyadh Ring Road 2 and doubling areas located on Riyadh-Bisha Road and Riyadh-Al-Ahsa Road.
The council has also decided to earmark finance for the completion of the 14th power generation plant, project for transmission of electricity to new customers, civil and mechanical work of power plants, increasing the capacity of power networks, and strengthening and developing power transmission lines.
About US$293mn has also been sanctioned for water projects.
