Logistics company Gulftainer has recorded an eight per cent growth in container volume in 2014
The firm said that the increase was partially driven by international expansion and investments in new infrastructure, with their total volume now standing at 6.4mn twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) across its global portfolio.
Gulftainer?s Saudi Arabian terminals had a total volume of over 2.29mn TEUs, with the Northern Container Terminal accounting for 1.9mn, and volume at the Jubail Container Terminal increasing by 22 per cent to over 396,000 TEUs.
The Umm Qasr Terminal grew 46 per cent in 2014, while the company?s UAE terminals recorded a total 3.8mn TEUs.
The Sharjah Container Terminal also surpassed 400,000 TEUs in annual throughput for the first time after benefiting from an increase in trade and the introduction of new services such as the Gulf India Service.
Established in 1976, Gulftainer is a global port terminal operator with its corporate head office in the UAE.
