Hill International?s airport extension project contracts have been extended by one year for US$30mn

In 2012, Hill International won a contract to develop the airports in Muscat and Salalah.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Public Authority in Oman has extended the US$108.5mn contract that was originally valid for two years. The current extension is for a year, and costs around US$30mn, said officials from Hill International.

Muscat International Airport, the largest in Oman, will see a new terminal being built that will have the capacity to hold 12mn passengers annually. Salalah Airport is the second largest airport in Oman, and will be upgraded to be a better international airport. Improvisations include a runway extension to accommodate an A380 Airbus and the construction of a new terminal to cater to a million passengers.

Mohammed Al Rais, regional president Middle East for Hill?s project management group said, ?Its an honour to continue to serve the ministry to help deliver these critical aviation projects. Upon completion, they will have an immediate positive impact on both business and tourism in the region.?
