Dubai carrier flydubai has announced that it would be increasing the frequency of certain flights to Africa from Dubai by the end of March 2015
The airline plans to operate 78 flights a week to 12 destinations in East and North Africa. From 29 March 2015, daily flights will ply to Juba and Bujumbara. Zanzibar, which has witnessed a surge in demand since the launch of the route in October 2014, will be served with four flights a week instead of two. Alexandria will also see flydubai increase its flights from two to three a day from June 2015.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said, ?We are delighted to offer more flights to Africa. We were the first UAE carrier to serve Bujumbura, Juba and Zanzibar. We have seen a strong demand for travel across our network in Africa, and we look forward to welcoming more passengers onboard our flights.?
The airline plans to boost trade and tourism ties between the UAE and Africa. it launched six routes to East and North Africa in 2014 and became the first carrier to offer a business class option to Dubai from Juba, South Sudan.
According to Sudhir Sreedharan, senior vice-president commercial (GCC, subcontinent and Africa) at flydubai, the carrier offers state-of-the-art facilities such as enhanced business class amenities and in-flight entertainment.
