Drake & Scull Rail will build a new airport passenger movement (APM) system that will connect Terminal 1 to Concourse 4 at Dubai International Airport
The company, a subsidiary of Drake & Scull International (DSI) PJSC, will provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services, railway-specific services like signals, traction power, maintenance of area power, air compression, communication systems and also carry out minor construction works.
Darko Macura, operations director of Drake & Scull Rail, said, "We are delighted to secure our first rail project in the Middle East, and excited to be a part of the prestigious Dubai International Airport project that combines airport and railway infrastructure. Our state-of-the-art solutions, resources and vast experience with prior rail projects will help us successfully implement this project."
DSI has earlier worked on projects in Europe and Asia, such as the Jubilee Line Extension and St Pancras Station Redevelopment in London, UK, as well as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) line also in the UK, and the Hong Kong Metro.
In 2013, contracts worth more than US$30bn were awarded for metro rail projects in Saudi Arabia and tram projects in Algeria. Drake & Scull Rail is partnering with railway experts, and is keen to offer integrated end-to-end engineering services for rail projects in Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina, Dammam, Doha, Kuwait and Oman.
