Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) has signed a contract with the French public transport company RATP Dev to supply 242 MAN Lion?s City M city buses to Riyadh, aiming to meet the growing demand for improving public transport facilities in the kingdom
The contract was signed at 2017 UTIP Global Transport Summit in Montreal that took place from 15-17 May.
Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd. (HHA), one of the largest distributors of automobiles in Saudi Arabia, will manage the delivery of MAN Lion?s City M buses, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
HHA said that it will work closely with the customer to ensure that the standards in quality and safety are met.

The 242-low floor city buses will be 10.5 metres long and feature Euro 5 engines with 290hp (213 kW).
According to the company, each bus has 29 seats with sufficient legroom, generous space, tinted windows and air-conditioning, aiming to meet customer?s requirement in line with creating and adding value to the new public transport network.
As per the contract, RATP Dev will be responsible for operations and SAPTCO will look into the fleet management.
Since 2014, SAPTCO und RATP have been working as the joint venture Public Transport Company (PTC), and currently in charge of reforming Saudi Arabia?s public transport network, with a plan to build up 100 routes with 1,000 vehicles.
