Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has signed an agreement with Al-Khafji Joint Operations to expand its telecom infrastructure in the country
The two companies will collaborate to build FTTP fibre optic connections, develop cutting-edge telephone services as well as enhance STC?s network and add-on services. Additionally, Internet services would be magnified to enhance speed of data transfers.
STC?s fibre optic network delivers high speeds, up to 200 Mega. The network is also resistant to electric/electromagnetic interferences and natural phenomena, stated company officials.
Andullah bin Nasser Al Hilal, chairman of the operating committee at Al-Khafji Joint Operations, said, ?The agreement demonstrates the leadership of Al-Khafji Joint Operations and its commitment to selecting prominent ICT companies as partners to serve the business sector, by improving telecommunication services and undertaking futuristic projects. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with STC.?
Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Suwail, acting vice-president of sales at STC added that the company?s successful delivery of fibre optic services is a landmark among Internet services offered by the company, as they facilitate the transfer of data at very high speeds by providing secure Internet connections.
According to market intelligence firm IDC, the Kingdom has the biggest ICT market in the Middle East, accounting for more than US$7bn of the predicted spend in 2014. Huawei?s Global Connectivity Index (GCI) ranked Saudi Arabia 19th in terms of creating a competitive market, due to the country?s investments in the ICT sector.
