SAMENA Telecommunications Council has announced that its annual Leaders? Summit will be held on 3 May 2018, with the patronage of Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the UAE
The summit is set to be hosted for the fifth consecutive year by Huawei and co-sponsored by Ericsson Middle East, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du), Alfa , Sudatel Group, Numbase Group and Airspan. The summit will congregate leaders and influencers from within the telecommunications industry across South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe and beyond.
To be held under the theme of ?Building the Digital Economy of the Middle East,? Leaders' Summit 2018 will build on past discussions, centred around enabling a regional digital economy.
The one-day leaders-only event will focus on materialising private and government partnerships and collaboration within the ICT industry of the region.
?Our focus during Leaders' Summit 2018 is on understanding requirements and multiple dimensions in building the region's digital economy, and how such an economy would be made sustainable and, equally so, how best telecom operators can play a decisive role in shaping up regional, digitally-enabled socio-economics,? stated Bocar BA, CEO and board member of SAMENA Council.
The event is also set to address the growing relevance of 5G ecosystem that is expected to rapidly transform the digital ecosystem across the globe, supporting national plans and accelerating digital transformation. The SAMENA Council conference aims to gather ICT industry leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities on the road to 5G.

During the summit, Huawei will also present the latest edition of its annual Global Connectivity Index (GCI), a global study that benchmarks where a country stands within its journey to connectivity, and aims to deliver insightful research for governments looking to push forth a digital economy transformation.
