Du expects revenues for 2011 to increase by 25 per cent thanks to a big boost in data services, the companys CEO, Othman Sultan stated.
The expected jump in revenues will be driven by a growth in mobile users and the introduction of fixed line telephone facilities. Sultan expects Du's revenues to jump to US$2.4 billion in 2011, said Alittihad.
Further growth expected
Sultan said data services, which had sharply grown over the past years, has contributed by nearly 10 per cent of the total income since the start of 2011, adding that he expected further growth due to steady expansion in mobile phone services, including the smart phone network.
"We expected an unprecedented boom in revenue from our land line network this year following the launching of this facility... we are in the process of conducting trials on our fixed line networks before it becomes fully operational," said Sultan.
Investment plans
Du is looking at pushing ahead with plans to invest nearly US$1.7 billion in 2011 to develop the infrastructure of its mobile and fixed line network.
