Du is set to launch a 4G long-term evolution (LTE) service with broadband speeds of up to 100Mpbs, the fastest in UAE, from July

The company has been increasingly concentrating on data for mobile broadband and has invested heavily on the necessary infrastructure.

Du chief commercial officer Farid Faraidooni said, "What matters to consumers is how fast and how easy the broadband connection is, especially that uploading from social network sites, including Facebook and YouTube, is growing notably."

The new service will more than quadruple the 24Mbps speed previously offered by the telco operator. Customers' devices will not require any configuration settings in order to use the network.

According to the company, its LTE network was ready for 150Mbps speed, but consumers would not be benefited as there are no devices currently operational at its spectrum [1,800Mmhz].

Du currently covers 27.8 per cent of the population in UAE and will offer the country's first 4G LTE broadband service to customers across the region.
