Global manufacturers and distributors highlight new approaches to safety design and engineering amid risks and security concerns related to combustible facades at the ongoing Windows Doors & Fa?ade Event 2017 in Dubai

Speaking at the panel, experts discussed the current approach to fire safety in the region and what is being done to ensure the highest standards are being put into place. The panel discussed the development of the fa?ade industry in light of the growing industry needs and requirements, particularly in terms of fire safety and security of facades following the latest UAE Life & Fire Safety Code update.

?The UAE is very keen to introduce the latest technological innovations when it comes to fire safety and security of facades, and in Dubai we have a great diverse community with a lot of expertise that can be leveraged to adopt the international best practice,? said Peter Stephenson, associate director of fire engineering at Buro Happold.

?A successful strategy will require the application of fire safety engineering principles right from the design phase of buildings, to the prevention procedures, risk management, control of combustibles, regular internal and external audit and the evacuation plan.?

Taking place from until 27 September at Dubai World Trade Centre, the event will showcase products, highlight latest trends and explore opportunities for growth for a safer future. Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, the second edition of Windows, Doors & Fa?ade Event will host industry leaders and experts sharing their thoughts and experiences on how the rapidly advancing facade technology and innovative design are playing a critical role in the industry?s development.

Earlier this year, the UAE updated their and Life & Fire Safety Code by incorporating international standards and best practices. The new code also targets the exterior cladding that has been blamed for the spread of many fires and aims to reduce its flammability.

?The region is looking to establish the right strategies to facilitate fire safety in buildings. Many of the industry leaders are developing enhanced products that can help reduce the risk of combustible fa?ades. The show presents a great opportunity for visitors to gain insights from industry experts in addressing industry needs, demands and challenges,? said Muhammed Kazi, Exhibition Director of Windows, Doors & Facades 2017.

Windows Doors & Fa?ade is the region?s only dedicated platform for global consultants, manufacturers and distributors of window, door and facade products to network and conduct business in one place, at one time. Following its successful launch that attracted more than 5,500 visitors in 2016, the event will feature more than 300 exhibitors from 64 countries and is expected to attract more than 8,000 industry professionals from the MENA region.
