The 2019 Abu Dhabi World Energy Congress will run from the 9-12 September 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), discussing a fresh perspective on how to resolve the world?s energy challenges
Under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the conference will bring together heads of state, ministers, CEOs, investors, entrepreneurs and experts from around the world.
Themed at ?Energy for Prosperity,? the event is set to highlight the need for cross-sector collaboration and action-orientated goals to ensure that energy delivers prosperity for nations, organisations, the environment, communities and individuals.
The conference is expected to cover the entire energy spectrum, from oil and gas to the renewables and nuclear as well as power, providing a unique forum for the largest and most diverse conversation. Session topics will include a focus on digitalisation, investment, access to energy, disruptive business models and the changing dynamics of the energy sector.
Participants will address the global energy trilemma - the challenge of simultaneously addressing the issues of energy security, access to affordable energy services and environmentally sensitive production and use of energy - through exchanges on the latest innovations, trends and forecasts of the industry.
The event will be the first time that is being hosted by an Arab nation and a member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), aligning with the UAE?s commitment to lead and facilitate the global energy discussion.
Creating a lasting and unique platform for action
Host sponsors include prominent UAE companies representing the full energy spectrum such as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Emirates Nuclear Energy (ENEC) and Mubadala. The companies will highlight how they are contributing to the development of the energy sector in the UAE and beyond and adapting to the ever-changing energy landscape. They will be supported by regional leaders such as Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA).
The congress is set to bring the top 100 start-ups from Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH?s (dena) Start Up Energy Transition (SET) initiative. The SET initiative is an international platform that aims to support innovation in energy transition and brings together the most outstanding start-ups in the field of energy.
In the coming months, the UAE Organising Committee will announce additional strategic partnerships that will cement Abu Dhabi?s position at the epicentre of the global energy industry.
