Abu Dhabi to host fifth edition of EcoWASTE Exhibition

With an aim to promote sustainable waste management and recycling across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the fifth edition of EcoWASTE Exhibition will be held in Abu Dhabi from 15-18 January 2018

Hosted by Masdar, as part of the annual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and in strategic partnership with Tadweer, the EcoWASTE Exhibition is also set to feature the waste management solutions forum, which will take place on 17 January 2018.

Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, minister of climate change and environment in the UAE, will deliver the opening address, highlighting the role of waste management in creating sustainable environments. Saeed Al Mehairbi, acting general manager at Tadweer, will address on Abu Dhabi?s waste management strategy.

Ahead of the event, Tadweer said that it aims to sign a number of projects for Abu Dhabi during the exhibition. Some of the projects include:

? Contract for controlling the emission of methane gas from Al Dhafra landfill.

? Investment project for used cooking oil recycling facility.

? Investment project for management and treatment of medical and hazardous waste in Al Ain region.

? Investment project for management and treatment of medical and hazardous waste in Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra region.

In addition to this, Tadweer said that it will also host daily seminars during the exhibition on implementation of best practices for sustainable waste management, smart bins, waste-to-energy and the Tadweer student awareness programme.

Saeed Al Mehairbi, acting general manager of Tadweer, said, ?The event will bring together businesses, policymakers, municipalities, innovators and thought leaders discussing the pressing issues of waste management and recycling in the face of mass urbanisation.?
