MAPEI invests about US$6.5mn to expand facilities in the UAE

MAPEI, the manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for the construction industry, has inaugurated the enlargement of its facilities in the UAE

In laying the groundwork for the company?s second decade in the region, MAPEI has invested more than US$6.5mn for the expansion of its production facility and new offices at the Dubai Investments Park.

As the region diversifies to non-oil revenues, the construction market continues to show important and solid growth. This is the reason why Mapei has decided to strengthen its position in the region.

The newly expanded facility features an additional 5,200 sq m covered warehousing for larger storage capacity. In addition, a new epoxy resin production line is set to allow MAPEI to enlarge its portfolio to deliver locally designed solutions. The new offices feature more than 2,000 sq m of a built-up area which includes a showroom and training centre and is now a workplace of more than 120 employees from 22 countries.

Veronica Squinzi, global development director of MAPEI, said, ?The UAE continues to present important opportunities such as Expo 2020 with its approach ?Connecting minds, creating the future.? Mapei is ready to support these projects realisation due to its previous experiences as a supplier of high-quality system solutions.?

Commenting on the innovation and sustainability as the major drivers of the technical approach to contribute to the wellbeing of future generations, Marco Squinzi, research and development director at MAPEI, said that the company looks forward to developing the commercial and industrial communities across the Middle East region.

Stefano Iannacone, regional director for the Middle East and East Africa, noted, ?The newly expanded facility will help in supporting and serving important projects and the region?s ambitions and vision.?

The company intends to continue investments in the region to support the local markets. It has opened a new subsidiary in Egypt and intends to open a few more in the region, aiming to become one of the leading suppliers in the regional market.
