Indonesian government-controlled construction company Wijaya Karya (Wika) has drawn up plans to build a US$1.1bn seven-tower hotel complex in Makkah, Saudi Arabia

The proposed site will be situated near the city?s Grand Mosque, with each tower costing US$157mn and consisting up to 1,000 rooms.

The Indonesian daily Jakarta Globe quoted Wika corporate secretary Natal Argawan as saying, ?We are currently studying the extent of the project in Saudi Arabia and our operational team has already visited the proposed construction site.?

Wika operational director Destiawan Soewardjono said that work to find a Saudi Arabian partner for the construction of the hotel was already underway, with potential companies set to travel to Indonesia soon to review Wika?s construction methods and standards.
