UAE-based airline Emirates has been named the most transparent organisation in the world by anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International

The survey, conducted by the Berlin-based company, assessed the corporate reporting practices of 100 multinational companies in emerging markets.

According to Khaleej Times, Johnson Electric Holdings of China and Malaysian energy firm Petronas were ranked second and third, respectively, by Transparency International.

The 'Organisational Transparency' category assessed firms on their disclosure of data in areas such as majority and minority holdings, stakes held by the parent company and the country of incorporation and operation, with the average overall score standing at 54 per cent in this category, Transparency International said.

According to the watchdog, key financial data helps citizens understand the activities of a particular company in their country and to monitor the appropriateness of their payments to governments.

Transparency International chair of board of directors Huguette Labelle said, ?As emerging market companies expand their influence they should seize the opportunity to play a bigger role stopping corruption internationally.?
