Amman Asia Electric Power Company has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with the National Electric Power Company of Jordan (NEPCO)
According to the terms of the agreement, NEPCO will buy electricity from Amman Asia Electric Power that will be fed to the national grid of Jordan.
The special purpose vehicle Amman Asia Electric Co, which is owned by Korea Electric Power Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation and Finnish power company Wartsila, has said that it also expected to sign an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with a consortium consisting of Wartsila and Lotte Engineering & Construction of South Korea.
The pair are set to build a 600MW power plant in Jordan to supply NEPCO.
The new plant will be part of independent power producer project IPP3, on which NEPCO signed an agreement with Amman Asia Electric's partners earlier this year.
