Bahra Cables awarded US$80 million Jeddah airport supply deal

Bahra Cables Company, an affiliate of Construction Products Holding Company (CPC), has been awarded a deal to supply medium-voltage cables worth US$80 million for first phase of the expansion of the King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah

The deal was signed with the company taking on responsibility for handling the airport's redevelopment project. The first phase of upgrading Jeddah's KAIA will take 24 months to complete and will allow the airport to accommodate 30 million passengers annually.

Chief executive officer of Bahra Cables Co, Talal Idriss, said, "This mega project confirms that our cables are capable of meeting the needs of major construction companies rather than importing from abroad."

The cost for upgrading Jeddah's airport is estimated to be $7.19 billion.

Saudi Arabia?s General Authority for Civil Aviation said last month it would also triple the capacity of King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh to 25 million passengers by 2015.
