Bobcat has introduced an improved range of rotary grinder attachments for its compact loaders and excavators, aimed at a wide range of construction applications
The three models in the range, the RG20, RG40 and RG60 grinders, provide a choice of cutting widths and are suitable for use on the larger Bobcat loaders and excavators.
The RG20 grinder has a standard cutting width of 566 mm and is approved for use on the Bobcat E32, E35, E45, E50, E55, E55W and E60 compact excavators.
The RG40 grinder has a standard cutting width of 621 mm and is approved for use on the E80 excavator, the Bobcat S570/H, S590/H, S630/H and S650/H skid-steer loaders and the T590/H and T650/H compact tracked loaders.
The largest model, the RG60 grinder, cuts to a width of 707 mm and can be used on the Bobcat S770/H and S850/H skid-steer loaders, T770/H and T870/H compact tracked loaders and the A770/H all wheel steer loader.
The rotary grinders consist of a double drum driven by an integrated high-torque hydraulic motor. Quieter in operation compared to equivalent hydraulic or pneumatic demolition tools, the attachments can grind in to concrete, asphalt or rock. They also transmit relatively low vibration levels to surrounding structures and produce small diameter debris that can be reused, Bobcat said.
The design of the new grinding attachments therefore allows them to be used for applications requiring precise removal of material, without damaging adjacent structures such as partial removal of walls or other structures. They can be used where standard excavation systems are too weak and percussion systems have little effect, with the ability to dig trenches, for example, through hard and rocky round.
The grinders are also appropriate for less precise work such as demolishing walls and other complete structures and for preparing asphalt or concrete surfaces for repair.
The use of rotary grinders on Bobcat compact loaders or excavators requires the installation of a special applications kit on the machines, the same as that used for mounting Bobcat hydraulic breakers. The rotary grinder attachments can be mounted o n Bobcat excavators with Pin-on, Klac or Lehnhoff systems. For Bobcat compact loaders, a Bob-Tach bolt-on frame is used.
