Hilton Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Iraq-based Mihtab Group to develop a brand new Hilton Hotels and Resorts property in Erbil, Iraq
The 300-room Hilton Erbil Hotel & Spa, which is expected to open in 2016, will be the second Hilton Worldwide property in Erbil following the 2011 announcement by the hotel group to develop a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton in the city.
Hilton Erbil Hotel & Spa will be set in extensive and landscaped grounds in a district north of Erbil.
Hilton Worldwide Middle East and Africa president Rudi Jagersbacher said, "We're excited to introduce our second property to Erbil and welcome the opportunity to become part of its thriving city community.
"Establishing a strong presence in Iraqi Kurdistan supports our strategy to open 40 more hotels in the Middle East and Africa within the next four years."
Mihtab Group owner Zmnako Yasin Ismail Qadir remarked, "As we face a surge in domestic and international travel to Iraqi Kurdistan, the addition of a new property by Hilton Worldwide will be a major boost to the range of hospitality offerings currently available."
