The UAE government has said it will invest AED130 million (US$35.3 million) in a number of construction projects across the country as it attempts to provide better living conditions for its citizens
According to UAE daily The National, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa approved the funds, of which the majority will be spent on building 312 villas in Ajman, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
The government will also invest AED20 million (US$5.4 million) into the construction of a road bridge between Sharjah and Dubai, as well as AED5 million (US$1.3 million) on a pedestrian bridge between the two emirates.
Sharjah?s Al Qasimi Hospital will receive AED54 million (US$14.7 million) for medical equipment, while a further AED53.4 million (US$14.5 million) will be spent on four residential buildings in Dibba Al Hosn ? a project that UAE deputy minister of presidential affairs Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi described as ?one of a kind as far as public housing is concerned?.
Al Zaabi, who also heads the committee that sanctioned the government expenditure, added, ?The four buildings will make available 56 spacious apartments and compensate for the lack of residential land plots in Dibba Al Hosn.?
